In this video tutorial I will teach you a really easy way of saying what you just did in French. The grammatical construction is: “Je viens de”.

Explanations

Use the following word order:

Subject + venir + de

Here is an example sentence which are clearly illustrate this rule:

Je viens de manger.
I just at.

As you can see, you need to learn how to conjugate venir so the verb conjugation matches the subject. Here’s another example sentence:

Je viens de me réveiller.
I just woke up.

You can see that “Je viens de” matches the sentence above about eating. However, you need to add “me” before the verb réveiller. This is because it is a reflexive verb. These are basically verbs that describe actions that one does to oneself. Thus, you must add “me” after “de” and before the verb or action that you just did. In future lessons will get into lots of firms more.
