In French each and every now and has a gender which is masculine or feminine. To say the in front of a masculine singular noun use the word “le”. To say the word the in front of a feminine singular noun use the word “la”.
If the noun is in the plural form and whether it’s a masculine or feminine noun there is only one word for the: “les”. These articles are very important to get right and can pose problems for non-French speakers so please pay attention to them in your future studies of the French language.
